Burnout is real (how to de-stress after a busy season)
Summer is coming to an end and I am honestly looking forward to fall.
We really packed it all in this summer as a family of three…from a beach vacation to quick trips to the lake, lots of weekend adventures, and everything else in-between. Plus, I finally am back to 100% full-time working again and had lots of client events, campaigns and projects that launched. On top of that, every weekend was full of fun activities and as much fun as it’s been, it’s also exhausting. This summer has left me feeling burnout in SO many ways.
So, I had to take a break from blogging… because I was just tired. And because I had to let something go for a bit.
Between working and balancing mom life all day…and often working late at night and then cramming in all the activities during the weekend, I felt like I was in a constant state of exhaustion. It didn’t help that we’ve been in the thick of teething with Ford and he’s been extra tired, extra fussy and waking up early basically all summer. I can’t remember the last time I’ve slept in past 6:00 a.m. The early waking has started to wear on me so much that we finally decided to try a later bedtime to see if that helps. Fingers crossed that it does, even if that means cutting into my evening routine.
My anxiety has also been at an all time high - between the lack of sleep and stress with client work, that I just haven’t felt like myself these last few weeks. I started Faster Way to Fat Loss with the goal to get my body back on track after stopping breastfeeding in mid-June. I am really trying to stay focused on my health goals and know that it will take time to see the change, but am hoping that these little habits I am forming will pay off in the long run. So, adding in consistent workouts has also been a priority for me!
So, with all of that said…I have missed writing and spending time on this blog!
It’s something I do truly because I enjoy it and I love connecting with you. Not to make money. Not to become a big time blogger. I just enjoy document our life, our experiences and my favorite finds that make our lives more fun, easy and beautiful. I just wasn’t in the creative space this summer to commit to it.
I am going into fall with the goal to take on less. And to do more of what fulfills ME.
While I can’t control my busy work schedule right now, I can control the extra activities and commitments. I am longing for quiet evenings (and weekends), more time to spend together as a family and getting back into the routine of taking better care of myself. That includes penciling in time to write ore. Even if I can only promise one blog post a week.
Anyway, thanks for sticking around during this busy season and following along on Instagram. I promise to bring more exciting content your way very soon!
If you are also feeling burnout, here is a list I compiled of things to do to help get back on track:
