5 New Spots in Kansas City to Visit

This post is perfect for my Kansas City friends that love to explore! With so many new spots popping up around the city, I wanted to share my most recent favorite spots - from boutiques to coffee shops that live up to the hype.

1. Made in KC Cafe - @mikccafe

114 Baltimore Ave, Kansas City, MO 64105

It's a no-brainer that this made my list. I am a coffee lover and this local spot is the perfect mix of style, great coffee (and unique options), in an Instagram-worthy space. I knew this would be a hit for me when they announced that they were offering cereal milk lattes, something I had only seen happening in bigger cities. My first visit included the Lucky Charms latte (iced) and it was not too sweet with the perfect hint of cereal milk...meaning it was everything I wanted it to be. The marble coffee tables and unique tile floor paired with their millennial pink 'Dear Coffee, I love you' napkins make this the most Instagram-worthy coffee shop in town right now.

2. Lade Bye KC - @ladybyekc

6245 Brookside Plaza, Kansas City, MO 64113

I've been dreaming of the day a boutique would open in KC that I would truly love. One that offered sophisticated, yet modern styles in reasonable price points for us working gals. Enter Lady Bye KC. When the owner announced that the shop will embrace a New York inspired style at lower price points, I knew this was it. And when I stepped foot inside the boutique and saw the decor (white walls, mauve & gold accents and pretty little details), I knew I had found the one. Their clothing selection shares my love for neutrals (anything blush, white, grey or black, please) and incorporates the occasional on-trend print or silhouette. Just follow them on social media (@ladybyekc) and you will know this is the loveliest boutique of all.

3. The Ainsworth - @theainsworth

11563 Ash Street, Leawood KS (in Park Place)

Three words: burgers + mac & cheese. That is all you need to know about The Ainsworth. Basically, their mac & cheeseburger is what brings you there. Who wouldn't be curious? It makes sense that the restaurant originated in New York City - because it definitely brings a cool vibe to its location in Park Place.  But I feel that The Ainsworth is becoming KC's new 'hot spot' restaurant and it's menu and ambiance holds up to the reputation. I've been there on a few occasions...once for an event (fun vibe), another time on date night and for Happy Hour with the girls. It works for all three occasions... You just can't go wrong! I can't wait to see how this spot continues to gain momentum this summer - it will be perfect for afternoon cocktails and indulgent appetizers!

4. Urban Cafe KC - @urbancafekc

4101 Troost Ave. Kansas City, MO

Okay, I have to admit...I haven't been inside this amazing cafe YET, but have had their food on several occasions via Postmates. I think that counts for making a judgment because I am obsessed with their food and can't wait to experience the full cafe soon! While I love the occasional indulgent meal, for the most part, I try to eat healthily. This has been my go-to Postmates order when I crave a fresh smoothie, acai bowl or sandwich filled with yummy goodness. You will not be disappointed! I can't wait to learn more about this unique cafe, but what I can say - it's one not to be missed.

5. Messenger Cafe

1624 Grand Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64108

I know, I already have one coffee shop on the list...but I just had to add another. Messenger Cafe is a beautiful coffee shop that opened at the end of 2017 and has been one of my most visited spots recently. Previously an abandoned building in downtown Kansas City, the new coffee shop is home to Ibis Bakery (just go for the smells of fresh baked bread, amazing) and the coffee shop, along with tons of seating and meeting spaces. The avocado toast is worth the $$ and this coffee shop is perfect for a morning of working alone, meeting a friend or popping in to get a breath of inspiration. Don't miss their beautiful rooftop - and there is a meeting space tucked away on the top floor. Again, worth the steps to get all the way to the top!

From Kansas City? Let me know what local spots you are loving right now!
